Biopect is a dietary supplement indicated for digestive disorders (diarrhoea). Biopect is a dietary supplement for calves and other young animals (piglets, lambs, goat kids, foals). Biopect can be used in periods at risk of or with digestive disorders (diarrhoea) and is a good supplement to antibiotic treatment. Biopect is a finely granulated, agglomerated and homegenic, dust-free product with high solubility and no risk of segregation. Biopect helps restore the natural balance of intestinal flora, stabilises fluid and electrolyte balance and provides energy.

Biopect contains a wide range of specially plant-based fibres that have different properties and actions. Some fibres, together with liquid, form a protective layer that will settle on the damaged intestinal villi. Other fibres bind moisture, harmful bacteria and toxins excreted with the manure. Finally, some fibres stimulate the formation of beneficial bacteria and support proper digestion.

Biopect has an optimal dietary salt composition with a high SID value that ensures rapid restoration of electrolyte and fluid balance and normal intestinal function: 

• Dextrose provides the calf with easily digestible energy and stimulates electrolyte absorption in the gut.
• Alkaline buffers stabilise the acid-base balance of the blood and promote the absorption of water and sodium.
• Biopect's composition optimises and strengthens intestinal bacterial flora and ensures that the calf recovers quickly after a period of gastrointestinal problems.
• Biopect is optimised for use in milk and nutrient supply can continue and weight loss due to digestive disorders is minimised.

Composition:Fruit pulp dried (apple, citrus), dextrose, sodium chloride, sodium acetate, psyllium husks, maltodextrin, sodium bicarbonate, potato starch, chicory root powder, carob powder, potassium chloride, magnesium oxide. 

Technological additives: E281-sodium propionate 

Analytical constituents:

• Crude protein 3,5%
• Crude oils and fats 1%
• Crude fibre 8%
• Crude ash 18%
• Sodium 5,9%
• Potassium 1,6%
• Chloride 5,3%

Administration:

• In case of digestive disorders (diarrhoea): 1g biopect per kg live weight twice daily for 3-5 days.
• At risk of digestive disorders (diarrhoea): Give half the amount for 2-3 days.
• If Biopect is used in water for more than 3 days in a row, other feed should be given, e.g. milk/milk replacer.

Calves:

• Dosage: 50 g Biopect, mixed in 2 litres of warm milk/milk substitute (approx. 40 °C)
• Mild cases: Twice daily for 3-5 days.
• Severe cases: During the first 24 hours, the dose can be given up to 4 times, depending on the degree of digestive disturbance. The following days: as in mild cases. In water, the dosage should be doubled: 100 g in 2 l approx. 40 °C warm water for the first two administrations. After this it should be dosed in milk/artificial milk as in mild cases.
• Preventive: Half dose for 3 days. 
• The doses listed are for a calf of about 50kg. Adjust the dosage according to the calf's weight.

Piglets:

• Biopect in artificial milk or water: give 50g Biopect per 2 l of artificial milk or water twice daily for 3-5 days.
• Biopect as a top dressing on dry feed: give 1g Biopect per kg live weight twice daily for 3-5 days. 

Other species: 1g Biopect per kg live weight in milk, artificial milk or as top dressing on dry feed twice daily for 3-5 days. When mixed with water, use double doses of Biopect.

Make sure the animal is given sufficient water. It is recommended to seek veterinary advice before use and to extend the duration of use.
