YOUNG BUT EXPERIENCED INDUFARM
FOCUSES ON RESULTS
Health improvement is the trigger

Indufarm shifts up a gear in its health chain

"Providing solutions and unburdening"

When Indufarm was launched in 2016, the starting point was health improvement in livestock industry. To this end, we tackled several facets of it with five partners, each with their speciality. Links that together form the health chain that still forms the backbone of Indufarm today and has further translated into the quality label VPLUS.

Guido Coppens, Henk Callens, Bert Mertens and veterinarian Alain Vanneste founded Indufarm in 2016. Gerdi Planquette with his cattle expertise joined as a partner in 2017. "We start from the customer's problem and look for the best solutions and the best products. All we do is in function of human and animal health". Indufarm does not manufacture itself but formulates products, which are needed to provide solutions.

If you want results  -  We remain ahead of the market with a constant eye on researching and developing new concepts. The health chain initially consisted of five links: hygiene, nutritional supplements, water treatment, pest control and coating (of concrete floors, among others). A sixth link was added in 2021: fertility. In addition, digitalisation ensures that livestock farmers are further unburdened with new concepts such as 'Digital Fluid Management' (DFM) and 'Digital Pest Management' (DPM) contributing greatly to this. Today, we are constantly looking for new opportunities to provide livestock farmers with solutions that make life on the farm easy and guarantee business security.

With focus on regional businesses being a hugely important factor, Indufarm does not compromise on quality and also looks beyond national borders to get the better products to the livestock farmer. On the other hand, the customer share abroad is also growing rapidly which contributes to the rapid growth of Indufarm itself.

The health chain

The six links of the health chain; hygiene, nutritional supplements, water treatment, pest control, fertility and coating. Together they are Indufarm's divisions. Hygiene includes barn hygiene, personal hygiene, vehicle hygiene, air washer hygiene and associated cleaning accessories. As for nutritional supplements, the focus is mainly on support at specific times or in case of reduced resistance or illness. Water treatment comprises a complete range of products for the chemical and bacteriological fine-tuning and acidification of drinking water. Pest control is necessary to prevent diseases. Indufarm offers a complete package for a professional approach. Coating includes the surface treatment of concrete so that it is pore-free to avoid the implantation of pests. Coated concrete floors can also be cleaned more easily and efficiently. Fertility came in as the sixth link in 2021. In this, we cooperate with Spain's Magapor, market leader in fertility and artificial insemination in pigs. As an international player, Magapor provides innovative and more practical solutions regarding pig reproduction and fertility.

The chain is only as strong as its weakest link. That is why, according to the partners, cooperation is so important and the search for the real causes of a problem.

We provide knowledge, consult with specialists, have access to databases containing the latest scientific studies and reports to offer the most efficient solution for the customer. Supplying a product to disinfect, for example, is not enough. A product is only one part of the solution. The interaction between food and water also remains hugely important. An animal drinks more than it eats. Nutrition and water treatment form one whole. So at Indufarm, they are addressed together as part of the problem-solving process. Livestock farmers expect Indufarm to solve their problems, for example that the water is and remains in order, both chemically and bacteriologically.

Unburdening through digitisation: VPLUS

VPLUS as a quality label stands for a structured approach in a thorough and in-depth manner. A seemingly simple step-by-step plan in 1, 2, 3 ensures a tailor-made plan that provides the livestock industry with the solutio. First, a clear analysis is made that establishes what is going on, based on research and determination on the spot. Continuity and business security are keywords, which is why follow-up is also the final step in the process.
Digital follow-up will completely unburden our customer-livestock farmers in terms of the health chain. The livestock farmer normally needs to constantly monitor and intervene on water quality, pest control and other health aspects. Indufarm provides full follow-up so you can focus on managing your farm. That follow-up also applies to the products used. It comes down to using the right products that are effective and durable and applying them correctly.
As part of smart pest control, such as rats and mice, we place bait boxes around the barn. Recently, we also started using smart sensors. These devices lure rats and mice and if they are actually there, the device transmits it so it can be digitally tracked. So we know when there is activity and therefore when to intervene. This not only means saving time but also more efficiency and sustainability.

DFP and DPM
Follow-up is strong thanks to further digitalisation and automation where the livestock farmer is relieved in every partial aspect. New concepts such as 'Digital Pest Management' (DPM) for pest control, contribute greatly to this. DPM that Indufarm is currently developing further is akin to IPM - Integrated Pest Management in horticulture. The system manages the control of rats and mice, flies and other pests. It links efficiency to sustainability.
Indufarm has previously developed 'Digital Fluid Management' or the DFM system. It provides continuous monitoring and surveillance of all water system parameters and processes on the livestock farm. Water disinfection, as well as water acidification, pH control, the UV system and the contents of the drums with chemicals are monitored. The IF DFM is a digital management solution, giving the user-livestock farmer direct access to all information of devices and systems installed on the farm. Adjustable warning and alarm values are built in to keep the farmer continuously informed and alerted when intervention is required. Indufarm naturally follows this up as well because this is a digital platform that Indufarm will offer to customers on its website. We want to expand this digital follow-up in the area of hygiene in the future.

My Indufarm
So for Digital Pest Management or DPM, we already have the necessary products available. We are developing the system on our website so that customers can track their data on the matter through 'My Account'. Meanwhile, we are developing a new platform on the website that will be called 'My Indufarm', which will eventually replace 'My Account'. On it, both the customer and ourselves will be able to easily find all data relating to pest control or DPM, DFM and other links of our health chain. Unique in the agricultural sector: specialised pest control firms visit from time to time, but our system monitors the situation permanently and at any location. It is smart technology. An important goal is also to avoid unnecessary use of insecticides and other pesticides. This also makes it a sustainable system. Digitalisation also makes operations more transparent. We keep looking forward with a smile.
