Refresh L, 10 liters

Refresh L is a specially developed dietary supplement to combat heat stress. It is the best response to high temperatures. During heat stress, metabolic acidosis (= reduction in blood acidity) occurs, which negatively affects both feed intake and growth rate.

Refresh L prevents this blood acidosis and compensates for the reduced blood pH through a combination of various buffers and specific nutritional salts. Refresh L is recommended in all situations involving high temperatures where animals breathe rapidly, hyperventilate or engage in so-called "open-mouth breathing".

Background information: At stable temperatures of around 30 °C, a chicken can release its body heat into the environment by increasing its body surface area (e.g. by spreading its wings) and by increasing blood flow to the skin and comb. In the event of heat stress, above 30 °C, the breathing rate increases and the chicken breathes with its beak open. However, the pumping breathing causes extra carbon dioxide to be exhaled, which lowers the pH or acidity in the blood (disruption of ion balance). This results in a decline in performance, ultimately leading to death.   

Composition: sodium salts of organic acids, sodium bicarbonate, potassium chloride, sodium chloride, betaine hydrochloride.

Dosage: 1 to 2 litres per 1000 litres of fresh drinking water
