Recycling empty packaging with AgriRecover

Which Indufarm products can be put in the AgriRecover bag?

At Indufarm, we are not only committed to improving animal health and farm management, but we also believe it is important to handle products and packaging responsibly on the farm. That is why, for example, we work closely with AgriRecover.

For over 25 years, AgriRecover has been coordinating the collection of empty agrochemical packaging and used plant protection products from all professional users. Belgium has more than 35,000 farms. Together with them and through a network of around 150 collection points, AgriRecover works to ensure the efficient collection of agrochemical packaging for sustainable agriculture.

Packaging bearing the AgriRecover logo

Empty packaging for various products from the Tox range and from Maggots features the AgriRecover logo.

You can drop off packaging bearing the AgriRecover logo at the collection points.

This means that farmers can place this packaging in the bag for crop protection products, which is collected and processed via the Agrirecover system. In this way, packaging is collected and recycled safely and correctly, in accordance with the applicable guidelines for the agricultural sector. You can find more information about the system at www.agrirecover.eu/.

Why should you return your packaging to AgriRecover?

Because you are actively contributing to a circular supply chain. The collected packaging is first transported and sorted correctly, after which recyclable materials are converted into new raw materials for applications such as cable protection conduits. Non-recyclable waste is also put to good use through energy recovery. In this way, you are not only ensuring a clean business, but also a more sustainable agricultural sector.

Where can you return AgriRecover packaging?

AgriRecover operates a network of around 150 collection points across Belgium. This means there is always a collection point near your farm.

👉 Find your nearest collection point via https://www.agrirecover.eu/en/collection-points/.

How do I return it?

AgriRecover bags are available from distributors of crop protection products. Free collection points are located throughout Belgium, usually at distribution centres.

The process is simple:

1. Collect the empty packaging in an AgriRecover bag

2. Take your barcode and filled bags to a collection point

3. Choose your collection point; this is separate from your supplier

4. You don’t need an invitation to bring in packaging

The dates and locations of the collections will be published well in advance on the AgriRecover website. Registered users will also receive this information directly. Collection and processing are carried out by accredited and independent waste management companies.

Is this the first time your business is returning empty packaging?

👉 Please register in advance using your VAT number via the AgriRecover website.

Rinced fraction

Many agrochemical containers are classified as the rinsed fraction. This means you must rinse them thoroughly before recycling them.

Proper rinsing is important because:

  • the residual product is safely disposed of
  • packaging becomes recyclable
  • collection can be carried out in accordance with environmental regulations

1. Rinsing properly

Rinse the container as soon as it is empty. You can do this by machine or by hand. If you are rinsing by hand, fill the container one-third full with clean water and shake vigorously. Repeat this three times.

2. Dry thoroughly

Leave the rinsed canister to dry in a drip tray. Collect the rinse water in the spray tank. Place only dry canisters in the AgriRecover bag.

3. Avoid costs

Buses that are still wet are considered non-washable. You may be charged for this, such as an administration fee and a processing fee.

8. Personal certificate

You will receive a personal certificate by email.

9. Collection campaign

The collection campaign runs from September to December. Please observe the dates and times of the collection points.

4. Check the logo

Please place only properly rinsed and dry cans bearing the AgriRecover logo, without their lids, in the AgriRecover bag.

7. Transport

It is forbidden to transport other people’s waste. You are therefore not allowed to give your packaging to a colleague.

5. Rinse water

Do not discharge the rinse water. Mix it with the spray solution and apply it correctly to the plot to be treated when it comes to crop protection.

6. Dropping off

As a professional user, you are required to submit the sample yourself or to appoint a company employee to do so.

You can find more information about the rinced fraction here:

https://www.agrirecover.eu/en/packaging-types/rinsed-fraction

• Maggots NL – A03558

• Broditox GR (Grain), 10 kg – A00167

Practical documents and downloads

On the AgriRecover website, you will find various practical documents and posters to help farmers sort and process packaging correctly:

  1. Mandatory notice for the recycling room
  2. Poster: “How to sort and rinse properly?”
  3. Information sheet containing full details regarding the collection

These documents help to ensure that packaging is stored, sorted and disposed of correctly on the farm.

How does your recycling contribute to a more sustainable world?

Curious to know how the packaging you return helps make agriculture more sustainable?

AgriRecover ensures that agrochemical packaging is collected, sorted and processed correctly. Both rinsed and non-rinsable packaging is handled separately and, through specialist partners, recycled or converted into new products. In this way, materials are reintroduced into the production chain and the system contributes to a circular economy within the agricultural sector.
