Opt for higher yields with sodagrain

Choose Sodragrain for higher yields in dairy cattle!

Livestock farming is a sector undergoing rapid change. In the quest to introduce high-quality innovations in livestock farming, improvements in feed technology cannot be left behind. The introduction of soda grain is an excellent example of this.

How does Sodagrain work?

Sodagrain is also known as unlocked grain and can be prepared in a simple manner. By mixing food-grade sodium hydroxide pearls, water and wheat in a feed mixer, the husk of the grain kernel is broken down. This leaves only the energy core of the grain kernel, allowing the cow to absorb extra energy. In addition, the 'naked' grain kernel also offers the advantage that the cow utilises the grain completely.

Sodragrain provides a strong buffer in the cow's rumen.

Sodagrain provides a strong buffer in the cow's digestive system. This allows the cow to digest starch calmly and safely, keeping the cows healthy. Cows in good condition ensure high milk production with a high milk protein content.

The advantages at a glance:

  • Sodagrain acts as a buffer in the cow's rumen.
  • Sodragrain ensures gentle digestion.
  • The unlocked wheat offers the advantage of high energy intake (starch).
  • Sodagrain stimulates the formation of microbial protein.

What about maize?

This year, there are many questions about the feed quality of silage maize due to the drought, because it contains a lot of crude fibre (which is difficult to digest), but therefore does not provide sufficient energy. The nutritional value is mainly in the cob filling, and in some years there is (too) much cob, resulting in less nutritional value. The same applies to MKS (maize cob scrap).

How to make sodagrain?

To use soda grain effectively, it is important that wheat, sodium hydroxide and water are mixed in the correct proportions. The mixture must also be left to 'rest' for long enough to allow the grain to be broken down before it is administered. The amount of soda grain per cow must also be adjusted correctly.

Tip: How to thoroughly clean the feed trolley?

Use hay when cleaning the feed wagon. This will prevent sodium hydroxide residues from remaining in the feed wagon. Over time, sodium hydroxide residues can cause corrosion in the feed mixer.

As a supplier to intensive livestock farming, we are happy to assist you with any questions you may have about Sodagrain. We supply food-grade sodium hydroxide macrobeads.
